| Regulations encourage silicone usage |

Regulations introduced by the German food authority, the BGVV, which took effect from January 1st 2000, governing the manufacture of rubberware in Europe and the UK , has ensured an increase in the uptake of silicone usage in the dairy industry.
Steve Briggs, Industrial Chemist and co- Director of Silclear Ltd UK, specialist silicone provider to the global dairy industry, suggests that 'traditional black rubberware will not last as long as it does presently, which will make Silclear even more cost-effective. The regulation reduces the amount of 'ozone resistant' constituents allowed in rubberware - so rubberware will break down faster than it does already.'
Silclear products are 100% UV and Ozone stable and are very resistant to dairy cleaning chemicals ensuring a smooth surface is maintained. Steve expresses that 'the hygienic capability of Silclear silicone far out weighs that of rubberware and Silclear lasts so much longer. We have farmers around the world now that are still using Silclear which has easily lasted 3- 4 times longer than their previously used rubberware".
The transfer diaphragms and non return valves, (pictured below) add to the extensive range of tubing, fittings, accessories and liners already available. 'The newly released diaphragms and non- return valves have been used 'on farm' for over a year now - out stripping rubber usage no end'- says Steve.
We now have over 300 products available for dairy farmers - the introduction of the liner and now these means we can offer Silclear from teat to tanker - increasingly important as quality requirements toughen for the dairy farmer and rubberware manufacturer.
